Trademark registration with the IMPI (Mexican Institute of Industrial Property) is the legal process that gives you exclusive rights to your name or logo in Mexico. Without it, anyone else could register your name before you do.
How long does it take?
Our part (the availability search and filing the application) takes a few days. The IMPI's official ruling takes 4 to 8 months if there are no office actions or oppositions. We track the file and help you with official requirements if the IMPI issues any.
How is the result measured?
You end up with the registration certificate from the IMPI: your trademark legally protected across Mexico for 10 years, renewable.
What do you need to get started?
Your timeline and the IMPI's are not the same
Most of what you read online mixes up two different clocks. The first is ours and stops when the application is filed, a matter of days. The second belongs to the IMPI, the authority, and stops at the official ruling, which takes 4 to 8 months if there are no office actions or oppositions. The difference matters because the date that counts against third parties is the filing date, not the ruling date. The day your application goes in, you already have a place in line, and the months after that are review, not unprotected waiting.
What happens during the review months
Between filing and ruling, your file is not sitting idle. The IMPI checks the formalities of the filing and the substance: whether the sign can be registered and whether it conflicts with earlier trademarks. That can produce official requirements, which are notices with a deadline to respond. You can lose a claim with merit by missing the deadline, not for lack of arguments. That is why the service includes tracking the process and help with requirements: the notice lands in the file, and someone has to be watching for it.
Why the phonetic search comes first
The substantive examination does not only compare identical names. It also weighs trademarks that sound or look alike within the same class. That is why the phonetic search comes before anything is filed. Catch a conflict at that stage and you can still adjust the sign, narrow the description or rethink the class. Catch it later and you have far fewer options: the process is underway, and all you can do is respond to whatever the IMPI raises, with the outcome in the authority's hands.
The class decides how far your protection reaches
A registration does not protect a name in the abstract. It protects that name for the products or services in the class where you registered it. Cover too little and you leave gaps that let someone else register the same name in another line of business. Cover too much and the process costs more without giving you useful protection. That is why we ask what you actually sell before we build the application, not just the name. You make this decision once, and it sets the scope for the entire life of the registration, so make it with your real operation in view.

Frequently asked questions
Can I pay in interest-free installments?
Yes. You can pay in up to 12 interest-free installments with participating cards. When you accept the proposal, we send the payment link on WhatsApp and you pick your term at checkout.
How long does it take to register a trademark?
Our part (availability search, class selection and filing the application) takes a few days. The official ruling takes 4 to 8 months if there are no office actions or oppositions, and can reach 12 or 18 months if there are, according to the timelines the IMPI publishes at gob.mx/impi. The IMPI sets that timeline, not us. We track the file and keep you informed, but we cannot guarantee an exact date.
What if my trademark is already registered by someone else?
That is why we run a phonetic search first: to gauge the risk that an identical or similar trademark already exists before we file, and to advise you on your options.
How much does it cost to register my trademark?
The service starts at $7,990 MXN. Before we begin, the proposal gives you the full cost breakdown, so you know exactly what you will pay and what for.
Do I need a registered company to register my trademark?
No. You can register it as an individual or as a legal entity, and we will advise you on which suits your situation better.
What do I need to start the process?
The exact name or logo to register, a description of the products or services you will offer under it, and the holder's details. We run the availability search and prepare the application.
What exactly is included, and what happens if I ask for more changes?
Only what your proposal spells out, plus 2 rounds of changes. A round is one list of adjustments, sent all at once. Anything outside the proposal, or any change after those rounds, gets its own quote before we start. Payment is 50% upfront and 50% on delivery, or 100% upfront if you choose interest-free installments. The Terms and Conditions have the details.
